Allison Angove Update

January 6, 2010

Thank you so much for keeping a status of Allison on the Area VI website! I just came across it today when I was looking for the date for the Ram Tap Fundraiser in May for Allison (May 1 - 2). We are very honored to be a part of the Pony Club and the USEA groups. Everyone has been so encouraging and involved with Allison’s progress. We hope that this year we can announce some very good news about Allison!
Thank you again for your continued thoughts for her recovery.

Terri and Grant

We would like to update you all on the status of Allison Angove, C2 rated and beloved member of Bear Creek Pony Club.

As you might remember, Allison sustained a traumatic head injury while in the warm up arena of her show jumping phase at the Ram Tap horse trials in Fresno, California on April 10, 2009. She remains in a coma.

Allison's parents, Terri and Grant, remain hopeful that Allison will recover from her injuries. Allison is living/rehabilitating at Saratoga Sub-Acute Children's Hospital in Saratoga, California -- more than an hour from her parents' home. Terri is back to work and Grant makes the daily visit. This has been a tremendous emotional and financial strain on the family.

The local horse community and Bear Creek Pony Club have provided tremendous support for the family. Both have hosted fundraisers to offset medical, travel (Allison was initially hospitalized in Fresno, more than 3 hours away from home) and horse costs. Gina Miles, one of our favorite Pony Club graduates, donated to one of the fundraisers! Well wishes have come in from Pony Club members far and wide.

Now I am going to ask something of all of you -- sit down and write the Angove family a note of encouragement. Ask your members to do the same. Send a card, a photo of a horse, a silly story or your favorite Pony Club memory. Let them know that you are thinking of them and are sending healing thoughts Allison's way.
